"The Maui Dive Institute is dedicated
to increasing public awareness and appreciation for this
planet’s marine life through innovations in
technology."
The marine life in our seas, our oceans, our lakes, and our
waterways are under attack. Pollution and overfishing kill our
hammerhead sharks, drown our bottlenose dolphins, and destroy
our coral reefs. We, at the Maui Dive Institute, believe
education and appreciation act as excellent
catalysts for changes in the individual habits and public
policy decisions that have too long contributed to the slow
destruction of marine ecosystems.
Reversing this cycle involves educating the citizens of
this Earth that we all share this planet and all have a part
in preserving life upon it. The Institute believes that
imagery and sound can play a huge part in building
appreciation for marine life. The songs of humpback whales in
the ’Alalakeiki Channel; a photograph of the birth of a
baby porpoise; a video of the majestic grace of the giant
manta; these unforgettable sights and sounds inspire us.
Our belief, that individuals inspire themselves and others
through the objects they see and the images they capture while
scuba diving, snorkeling, or just playing in the water,
influences every invention and every program undertaken by the
Maui Dive Institute.
We desire that you be inspired by what you see in the
waters all over this planet. What you see may change your life
forever, but the images you capture and display may influence
many more, in your office, in your home, or elsewhere. Don't
keep it to yourself!
At the Institute, we have a saying: "Don't come back
without proof!"
